What does CEP do in the PCA ?

Christian Education and Publications' ministry is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America. CEP provides training, consulting, and resources to local PCA Churches. There is training in effective leadership principles, revitalization, strategic planning, church evaluation, and on site consultation. There is both staff and regional trainers for Bible study leaders, teachers, and planners, including Sunday School. There is help and assistance in men’s, women’s youth, and children's ministry. There are resources through curriculum, the CEP Bookstore, and video library. Equip for Ministry is a magazine type publication for church leaders and other interested individuals.

What is CEP's philosophy of ministry ... ?

The philosophy and theology of the PCA reflects a biblically reformed world and life view. CEP’s role is to teach and train others to teach the Bible in the best tradition of reformed doctrine with a life changing thrust. Teaching and application of sound biblical doctrine with the best of pedagogical skills along with a culturally sensitive understanding of the world around us is our focus. CEP is attempting to do more than simply echo the past. It attempts to address this generation with the clearest, truest expression of biblical faith.

How can CEP help revitalize our church's ministry?

Through training, evaluation, and consultation CEP can assist your church in evaluation its present ministry but also provide resources to assist local church leaders in determining their church’s missional purpose and strategy for implementing that ministry. CEP has developed a variety of assessment instruments for church leaders to use in the evaluation process. Some are self-administered and give instant feedback while others are submitted to the CEP office for more detailed analysis and interpretation.

We can assist your church with things such as: the change process, the planning process, conflict management, and through its education and training programs help develop the format for a spiritual renewal in your church. Where can we get good, reformed materials for our Sunday school program?

Can CE/P help us with our youth and children ministries?

Yes! CEP offers a wide variety of resources to assist local churches in these vital areas of ministry. CEP's youth ministry is distinctive in that is a biblically reformed, "family-based" approach. Sue Jakes, Dennis Bennett or Bob Edmiston are available to assist your church in evaluating the effectiveness of its youth and/or childrens' ministries. They can likewise provide assistance by training your staff and volunteers as well as locating prospective staff.

  • Pioneer Clubs partners with CEP to provide quality children and youth resources to churches.
  • The PCA Women in the Church organization is developing a ministry to teen girls.

How can our church participate in CEP's video library?

There are more than 600 titles of outstanding Christian videos available to local churches through the CEP video library. Churches can join our video library lending club and have access to all the titles. The cost is $175 per year, $100 for mission churches. More than 300 churches are members. Where can I purchase quality, Christian books?

CEP operates the PCA Bookstore. It is located in the CEP Office and has a toll free number for easy accessibility. Tim Schirm and his staff are ready to assist you. CEP not only provides its recommended resources through the bookstore but will also make every effort to locate other good Christian literature for the churches and their members. While you can visit our bookstore and browse the shelves, most of our sales are a result of networking with book publishers and distributors. Can CEP come to my church and train our leaders and teachers?

Yes, we have staff and regional trainers who are available to assist your church with on-site training. CEP's specialized seminars include:

  • Small group ministry training
  • Stewardship education

What is CEP's role in men's and women's ministries?

As the training and education arm of the PCA, our role is to assist local churches in their role of making disciples and equipping the saints for their work of ministry. Women in the Church and Men of the Covenant are part of CEP’s training program. Through conferences, seminars, and materials CEP’s resources are aimed at the local church’s ministry through these areas.

How can I receive Equip to Disciple magazine?

Equip to Disciple is a quarterly resource magazine designed for the leaders of the PCA, both formal and informal leaders. The magazine contains timely articles and topics, some church news, book reviews, and tips for ministry along with carefully selected paid advertisements. A church can subscribe to a bulk number of copies which are mailed to and distributed by the local church or individuals can subscribe by contacting the CEP office.
