Let's Apply a Biblical Account
Genesis
13
says
that
Abram
and
Lot,
his
nephew,
were
prosperingso
much
so
that
there
was
a
shortage
of
land.
That
resulted
in
a
quarrel.
To
end
the
conflict
Abram
said
to
Lot,
Take
the
land
you
want.
Ill
take
whatever
is
left.
That
is
as
far
as
some
will
go,
suggesting
that
a
Christian
should
imitate
Abram
in
analogous
situations.
But
why?
Theres
more.
God
made
tremendous
promises
to
Abram.
Confident
that
God
would
take
care
of
him,
Abram
let
Lot
take
what
he
wanted.
Then
God
repeated
his
promise.
Its
as
though
he
is
saying,
Abram
you
may
have
second
thoughts
about
what
youve
done.
You
may
be
wondering
how
your
flocks
will
be
fed,
how
your
servants
will
respond,
whether
you
will
continue
to
prosper,
whether
giving
in
to
Lot
was
really
a
good
thing
for
him.
Just
remember,
Im
going
to
bless
you.
God
has
made
promises
to
those
who
are
in
Christ.
We
are
heirsAbrahams
heirs.
We
will
live
and
reign
with
Him
forever.
But
our
ties
to
this
world
are
so
strong.
Are
we
able
to
take
a
loss
to
end
a
quarrel?
Can
we
actually
think
well
of
and
possibly
do
something
good
for
people
and
groups
who
we
believe
are
against
uswhether
they
be
neighbors,
relative,
politicians,
co-workers
or
fellow
church
members?
How
about
if
we
have
been
hurt?
Is
it
possible
for
us
to
hear
Jesus
say,
I
take
care
of
the
birds
and
the
flowers.
How
much
more
will
I
take
care
of
you? Robert
