Sunday School Works,

Even if We are Sometimes Un-Enthusiastic About It.

It’s a given in a lot of places.  Blah in many of those same places.  Attendance stagnant.  Lethargy prevalent.  Some say it has been with us too long.  There is a feeling that it can’t change.

            But consider this.

No matter what the complaints are in most congregations more people come to Sunday school than attend any other ongoing educational event in the church.  Some Sunday schools are growing and reaching both children and adults.  People are coming to know Christ and are being nurtured in the faith.  They are finding a place where they belong.

Your Sunday school can grow too.

We want 1997-98 to be one in which children in your community, along with their parents, come to Christ and are enfolded in the church.  It is still true that most people who profess faith do so before they complete their teen years.

To seriously join with us in this effort:

1.     Lay out a plan which you can begin to implement no later than June 1997.  Include ways to attract adults and children that are in the congregation but not presently involved in Sunday school or other discipling efforts.  You may want to consider a new ministry such as Pioneer Clubs or small groups.  Assistance is available from the CE/P office.  Just ask.

2.     Plan to come to Atlanta on February 11-12, 1997 for a Conference on the Sunday School.  Elmer Tows, “Mr. Sunday School,” will be the primary speaker.  If there is anyone in America who personifies the important and vital role of the Sunday school it is Elmer Towns.  He has not only taught about its importance, but each week personally demonstrates the Sunday school’s important ministry.  He will kindle your vision for the Sunday school and outline ways you can strengthen it.  Cause it to grow.  And the people in it to mature.  Several of our churches have used his program to increase their attendance as much as 20-25%.  Fredric Mau, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Dyersburg, TN, represents one of these churches.

The cost is just $80.00, and that includes two meals.  For more information call us.

A good Sunday school can literally revitalize a local church’s ministry.
