Proclaim the Gospel of Grace is the theme chosen by the local host committee for the 36th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America. It is our privilege, as PCA women in the church, to pray and plan under this statement. What a timely call to remember that God has supernaturally united us to one another by uniting us to Jesus. As we prepare to join with the visible church, let us rejoice in the heritage of faith that has been handed down to us by God's covenant faithfulness. Let us rejoice together as men and women who have been graciously engrafted into the family of God. The 36th General
Assembly will be welcomed and cared for by the churches of North
Texas Presbytery. In our denominational history, North Texas
Presbytery has hosted the PCA family in 1995, 2002, and now in 2008.
The theme they have chosen is reflective of their regional identity
and strong emphasis and obedience to the Great Commission. |

Welcome from Marlys The week of June 8-12 is a very special week for me, as well as for my brothers and sisters in North Texas Presbytery. You see, our family is coming for a visit. Some of these family members I see once a year. We are so excited about this family reunion that we're rolling out the red carpet, slaughtering the fattened calf, preparing a feast, dry cleaning our best robes, and putting clean sheets on a few thousand beds. Do you know what family reunion I am referring to? GENERAL ASSEMBLY! Hosting GA is a very good thing for North Texas Presbytery. It gives our people the opportunity to serve together as a presbytery. Undoubtedly, GA will strengthen our bonds of fellowship within our presbytery. It also provides us with the opportunity to educate our people about GA. Greater understanding of the biblical governmental structure of the PCA will hopefully redound to God's glory and create an appreciation for our denomination and for the grace of God, which is mightily at work in the PCA. Hosting GA allows our people to enter into a special time of prayer together for the PCA. Hosting GA in Dallas affords us the opportunity to serve Jesus by loving His bride and showing her great hospitality. You can certainly understand why I'm so excited about this opportunity! Let me encourage you to talk to the male leadership in your presbyteries about hosting GA. It's a great way to connect. And if your Presbytery has already agreed to host GA, please embrace that privilege and opportunity to serve Jesus as you serve your PCA brothers and sisters. Regarding GA in Dallas, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation to you. The host hotel, the Hyatt Regency, offers warm hospitality. The women's ministry that we offer at GA is excellent. It is specifically designed to provide encouragement for Teaching Elder’s and Ruling Elder's wives, that is, encouragement for their marriages and their ministries. But even if you are not an elder's wife, you will find excellent teaching and wonderful fellowship. On Wednesday, our women's ministry luncheon will feature Dr. Ed Welch as our keynote speaker. On Thursday, we will offer a variety of tremendous workshops designed for your growth in Jesus Christ. Throughout the week, we will provide excellent craft times for our women. Also during the week, we are providing quality tours, including a mercy ministry tour that is offered free of cost. We will provide a quality nursery staffed by the women in North Texas Presbytery. Our elementary children's ministry will include a VBS-type morning program and adventurous afternoon field trips. And you cannot believe what king of fun things we have planned for middle school and high school young people. Students from Westminster Seminary will lead our youth in devotionals and accompany them on fun outings. We look forward to seeing all of you in Dallas! Marlys Mulkey |
