Women in the Church Seminars

June 12     10:00 - 11:30

On Thursday, CEP/WIC is offering a rich and varied slate of woman to woman seminars designed to equip and encourage in marriage and ministry. Hospitality, encouragement in marriage, personal spiritual growth, community building around God's Word, and compassionate caregiving are all topics that will be offered to strengthen our hearts and widen our witness to the gospel and grace of Jesus Christ.

Building Community in Your Bible Study

Isn't this title an oxymoron? Aren't we in a Bible study to study the Bible? What does building community have to do with studying God's Word? Let's take a look at the "why" and "how" of community building in a Bible study setting.

Ellen Dykas
Bringing the Hope and Kindness of Christ into the Dark and Struggling Places of Life

The Lord said through Isaiah, “Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the Name of the Lord and rely on his God.” (50:10b) Hurting women are all around us, whether married, single or single-again and many are struggling in places of ‘darkness’ that need the light of Christ and the gospel of grace.  Often times women are wrestling with life-dominating sins for which they feel no hope of ever being free, and within which they are struggling in a loud and painful ‘aloneness’.  This seminar will address how we can compassionately and wisely enter into the lives of hurting women in such a way that they are drawn to know the Lord and trust in Him.

Marilyn Melton
"Lover of Sprangers" - Biblical Hospitality for Such a Time as This

As Christian women, we are life-givers, offering hospitality not only to fellow believers, but to aliens and strangers. This seminar helps sort it out and takes a new look at the fields that are ripe for the harvest. Regardless of age or means, we can all practice biblical hospitality for the glory of God and for the building of His Kingdom.

Auntie Emm..Toto: The Rainbows and Whirlwinds of Ministry Marriage

In ministry marriages there are beautiful rainbows of celebrations and whirlwinds to struggle through. This seminar offers practical biblical insight, encouragement, and challenge to renew your commitment to oneness in both marriage and ministry as you serve alongside your husband.

Evading Stumbling Blocks

Marriage to a teaching or ruling elder brings with it a whole host of blessed opportunities to fulfill your chief end of glorifying and enjoying God.  However, it also brings with it whole host of stumbling blocks that can hinder your progress in living out your chief end.  This seminar looks to God's Word for instruction in how to evade these stumbling blocks and enhance your ability to glorify and enjoy God as the wife of a teaching or ruling elder.
