Worship Training for Preschool Children
Children’s church is the answer most often given
to the question, “What should we do with the
younger kids during worship?”
Yet many children’s church programs would
be difficult to distinguish from Sunday School
or mid-week meetings.
We can use this weekly opportunity to
train kids in the elements of
worship
that will prepare them for being fully
integrated in the worship of the body.
Together we can explore the possibilities
that our rich worship traditions
can give us for teaching our young ones
the basics of worship.

Teaching Our Children to Serve
True disciples find their God-given gifts and enjoy using them for His glory. Children are never to young to begin the journey into joyful service and we must facilitate this at home and at church.

Engaging Teenagers with the Word of God
Youth ministry is sometimes portrayed as a
“games and pizza” ministry.
However,
every disciple making youth ministry takes
teaching God’s Word
seriously.
This seminar is for anyone who teaches
Bible studies, small groups or Sunday School to
teenagers and wants to do it more effectively.

Ministry at the Educational Buffet
Christian families today live in a world with multiple educational options (home school, public school, private school, private Christian school, classical Christian school, etc.). Every decision brings with it a unique set of opportunities and
challenges. Regardless of their choice, many church members are passionate about their decision, and that passion sometimes leads to friction in the congregation. This seminar will examine some of the issues that arise and how ministry leaders can work with families to address those issues in a way that promotes the peace and purity of the family and the congregation.

What is Biblical Christian Education?
Too often, children’s and youth ministries are put in place just so we “have something for the children to do.” But that is not enough! This seminar examines the biblical basis for why we do Christian Education. We will see why and how we make disciples of children and youth and how this mission is rooted in the covenantal promises of God himself given to us in the gospel.

Imagination and Transformation - Teaching to a Large Group of Children “How am I going to hold their attention?” The prospect of teaching a large group can be intimidating….and if one child in a room of 8 can unhinge things, what do we do with a group of 25, 40 or 200? The key to winning a hearing is to engage the imagination of the kids you have there—no matter how many! Creative development of our teaching is essential, and it works best when we work together. We will discuss a wide variety of teaching tools, pool our experience for some wisdom and have some “show and tell” of ways to invoke a sense of wonder in our students.

The Importance of Using Questions in the Learning Process of Youth
No one comes to you a blank slate.
The challenge for any teacher, parent or
leader is determining what your students already
know and understand before
teaching.
Using questions not only helps you assess
where they are spiritually but is also critical
in allowing them to reflect on what they are
taught.
Find out how to effectively use questions so
your teaching connects to the heart.

Leading From the Second Chair
Ministry almost always happens under the
supervision of others. How do we work within
these supervisory relationships to the glory of
God? What should be done when there is real
tension (relational and/or ministry objectives)
between supervisors and those coordinating the
ministry activities? How does one work with a
"boss" (paid or volunteer)?

Christ

children and youth. And, you only set this
example when you live by faith and repentance,
resting on the work of Christ and walking by the
Spirit of Christ.

Elements of an Effective Program
Programs are the ways we put ministry into
action. Every program, from a simple reception
to a week-long camp, requires thoughtful
planning. This workshop covers the nuts and
bolts of program planning as well as broader
questions such as, "How do I handle tension
between planning programs and caring for
people?; Why don't programs work the way I
planned them?; How do I handle people who want
to use my activities for their agendas?"

Planning, Conducting and Evaluating Education Ministries Too often planners leave out one or more “acts” of the educational process: planning, conducting and evaluating. Each “act” will be discussed by itself and how it contributes to the other two.
Hope-for outcomes:
1. Participants will identify the principles and practices within the three acts of educational ministry.
2. Participants will examine the three acts by reflecting on a recent personal case study.
3. Participants will develop a plan to address one planning, conducting or evaluation issue in their ministry context.

God's Story inter-generationally, and for making

Cross-Cultural Youth Ministry
A report by the U.S. Census Bureau has claimed
that by 2050, there will be no majority ethnic
group in America. As the landscape changes,
ministries must adapt to meet the needs of a
diverse world. Because youth ministry is, by its
very nature, a cross-cultural endeavor, it has
the ability to be a means of reaching the
nations and the next generation. This workshop
seeks to underscore the importance of
cross-cultural youth ministry and the ways that
we can adapt to meet the needs of an ever
diversifying world.
