SEMINARS:
Friday:
BUILDING
A KINGDOM ON A WORD?
We will examine
together questions concerning the role of the Word in making disciples
of Jesus Christ. In a culture where words are “losing their stuffings,”
so to speak, how can we continue to affirm the centrality of the Word in
kingdom-building? What role does the Bible play in the process of
discipleship? How important are words compared to experiences, in the
learning and growing process? How can we help make the Word a living
and active Word in the lives of disciples of all ages? The goal will be
to encourage us all in the process of passing on the Word with passion
and power, until Jesus comes again.
Saturday:
WHAT’S
READING GOT TO DO WITH IT? Bible Study from an English Prof’s
Perspective
This seminar
will focus on the in-the-process-of-being-lost art of reading and
studying a text! How do we, in Bible study, truly focus on the actual
inspired words? How do we take in and teach the poetry, for example?
What methods take us most deeply into the text and let the living and
active words work in our souls? How do we most effectively and
winsomely offer a text-based study to a need-based contemporary culture?
