2008 Women in
the Church Leadership
Training Conference
Workshops |
|
First Session 11:00-12:15 |
Does PresWIC Have a Purpose?
Kathy Wargo, Facilitator (Part one of
a two-session workshop) |
|
Sometimes we get
into a habit of doing things, and we don’t even know why we are
doing them…other than because “we’ve always done it that way.”
Maybe you’ve forgotten why we have PresWIC (or maybe you never
knew!)…maybe you want some renewed ideas for your PresWIC,
resources, questions answered, or hearing what has worked for others
in your leadership role. If so, join us as our energetic panel digs
deep into the purpose, the privileges, and the opportunities of
meeting together for regional discipleship to reach both the
traditional and non-traditional women’s ministries of the PCA.
Please note: In response to requests for “more discussion
time,” this workshop consists of both workshop sessions. To
benefit from the design of the panel questions, it is important
that you plan to attend both. |

you’re “down in the trenches” during the every day leadership
responsibilities? This panel represents a wealth of experience and
diversity and will share ways to build and strengthen your
leadership skills. Specific areas will be addressed:
·
Setting
purposeful goals
·
Nurturing
intergenerational relationships
·
Utilizing
your leadership team

Relational Leadership:
Moving from Tasks into Lives
Sally Gleason |
|
Biblical
leaders are “pointers” who direct others to Christ. It is only
through building relationships that a leader can match a task to a
person who has the gifts to accomplish it, encourage her to use that
God-given gift with the proper heart attitude and biblical purposes,
to glorify God, and therefore serving and benefiting God’s people
and the building of God’s Kingdom.

Ministry to and with Single Women
Melanie Cogdill |
|
“YSCW Seeks Long-Lasting Connection”
Young single
Christian women (twenty somethings to early 30s) are usually an
afterthought or perhaps overlooked in a church’s women’s ministry.
Young professional American women are more educated and are putting
off marriage longer than earlier generations. How does the church
enfold, reach out to, and employ the spiritual gifts of young single
women? This seminar will help you catch a vision as well as give
some practical insights to encourage and train this important group
of women in your church for ministry to the covenant body.

Mentoring Teens
Susan Hunt |
|
The Old
Testament commissions us to “tell the next generation the
praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders He has
done” (Psalm 78:4). The psalmist said: “Our daughters will be like
pillars carved to adorn a palace” (144:12b). Why and how do we tell
the next generation of covenant daughters the wonder of God’s
creation design of women? This seminar will discuss this topic and
will present CE/P’s discipleship curriculum for teen girls,
Becoming a True Woman… while I still have a curfew. |

Building
Community in Your Bible Study
Teri Anderson
|
Isn't this title an oxymoron? Aren't we in a Bible study to study
the Bible? What does building community have to do with studying
God's Word? In this session we will take a look at the "why" and
the "how" of community building in a Bible study setting. |

Bible Study
Leaders Panel
Donna Dobbs,
Facilitator |
|
The Bible is the same; but from church
to church and group to group, Bible studies can look very
different. We will pull from the wisdom of some of those who have
the respon-sibility of planning and executing studies for women in a
variety of church contexts.
We’ll
explore:
·
The priorities that determine
your choice of Bible study. What are you trying to
accomplish in this study?
·
The programs of study offered in
various churches. What are the contexts and
formats of various Bible studies?
·
The preparation of the leader.
How do you study to teach and how do you prepare
your heart?
·
The promotion of godliness in
your students. How do you encourage growth in
“hearers of the Word?”

All
seminars will be recorded.
