Kathy Cheely
Kathy majored in
Christian Education at Wheaton College and has been able to use
that training in churches served by her pastor husband of 40
years. Tom has had pastorates in Tennessee, North Carolina and
South Carolina. For the past 23 years he has served as Missions
Pastor at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL. Kathy
was on the staff at Briarwood for 14 years serving in several
areas. In 1997 she retired from the position of Coordinator of
Women’s Ministries, an area of ministry she pioneered at
Briarwood. This year she returned to the Briarwood staff and
serves as secretary to the Minister of Pastoral Care. From 1999
to 2003 Kathy served as the Southeast Representative for the
Women’s Advisory Sub-Committee (WASC) of the PCA. Kathy’s time
is spent mentoring women, teaching Bible studies and sharing at
women’s conferences lessons God has taught her. Kathy’s has
unique challenges and opportunities in parenting and
grandparenting to: Cross continent missionary children and
grandchildren; single parent family, cross-cultural adoptive
grandchild, and grandchild with developmental health
complications. .
